How it works
From a couple of photos to a part that fits
If you've never commissioned scanning or CAD work before, here's exactly what happens and what's expected of you. Short version: not much.

Show us the problem
Send a few photos and describe what you're trying to achieve. That's genuinely enough to start a conversation — you don't need drawings, dimensions or CAD.
If you do have files — photos, sketches, scans, existing CAD, a supplier drawing — send those too. Anything helps, nothing is required.

Agree on the outcome
We'll work out what the job actually needs. Sometimes that's a full scan-to-CAD sequence; often it's much less. We'll say so either way.
Before any work starts you'll get the scope, the deliverables and a price. Projects are quoted individually — there's no price list, because a bracket and an engine bay aren't the same job.

Get us to the item
You can bring suitable parts to us in Auckland, which is usually the simplest option for anything that fits in a car.
If the item can't move — a vehicle, an installed assembly, a machine — we can scan or measure it on site around Auckland. On-site work may attract travel costs, which are included in the quote.
Evening & weekend project appointments are available, so getting the item to us doesn't have to eat into your working week.

Scan. Design. Build.
The work runs using whatever combination the project needs: scanning, measurement, geometry extraction, CAD design, prototyping or functional fabrication.
You'll hear from us during the job if something turns up that changes the picture. Scope changes get discussed, not assumed.

Get the result
You receive the agreed deliverable: scan data, extracted geometry and key dimensions, CAD models in native and neutral formats, drawings, a prototype, or a finished one-off part.
Where you're having something made elsewhere, we can supply manufacturing-ready CAD and drawings for CNC machining, laser cutting, waterjet and similar — and where appropriate, help arrange manufacture through third-party suppliers.
Common questions
The things people usually ask
- What does “no result, no pay” actually mean?
- We agree what success looks like before starting. If we can't deliver that agreed outcome, you don't pay for work that hasn't delivered it. It isn't unlimited free revisions, and it doesn't cover changing your mind about what you wanted — which is exactly why we pin the scope down first.
- Is my job too small?
- Probably not. One-off jobs and small jobs are the bulk of what we do. If a single afternoon of scanning and a bracket design solves your problem, that's a complete job as far as we're concerned.
- I don't know any CAD or scanning terminology.
- That's fine, and it's normal. Describe the problem in your own words. Working out whether you need a scan, extracted geometry, a CAD model or a prototype is our job, not yours.
- What about safety-critical parts?
- Safety-critical or regulated components are assessed case-by-case. We don't offer certification, structural validation or professional engineering sign-off, and we'll tell you plainly when a job needs someone who does.
- Do you make the final part?
- Sometimes. We produce prototypes, fit-check parts, fixtures and simple functional one-offs, focused on fit and function rather than show-quality finishing. For production parts or specialist processes, we supply the files and can help get them made.
